Circus Mexicus 2010 Part Two : SOUNDCHECK

Saturday was full of exciting activities, beginning with an early morning breakfast buffet downstairs at the restaurant in Sonoran Sea. We enjoyed a yummy breakfast then drove to town to pick up a few groceries at the Super Ley -- you know, tortillas, salsa, coffee, beer, etc. We loaded the groceries and the guys dropped us girls off at Sonoran Spa for our full body massages. It was a very nice relaxing hour. After our  massages we returned to the guys watched a little soccer tournament from our patio and took in a little sun before heading back in to town for some lunch and sightseeing. Read more.

Circus Mexicus 2010 Part One.

We survived another Circus Mexicus and according to Roger Clyne, himself, it was the best Circus Mexicus yet! I think he was just saying that because his soccer team, Mexican Moonshine, won the Rock and Soccer Tournament. I am just glad I was able to make it home without to much hassle since I lost my ID, credit and debit cards and $100 cash during the show on Saturday night...but before I get in to all that how about some photos...

Oh my this weekend was long and fun but now I need a weekend to recover!

I slept in this morning and went through the first round of my weekend photos. The Fab Four.

I messed with some of the video too but only got around to posting this for my brother…

My niece Kaydence (aka Kiki)

Hopefully I can share more videos from the show before I lose interest and move on to something else. The group was quite good and it was nice to spend an evening of entertainment with my family. I would definitely see this show again and again.

On Saturday we went to a pre-races pool party at my friend/co-worker Tami's house. They had some extra tickets to the Indy races at Texas Motor Speedway and invited us along. It was my first time at the Speedway and my first time ever at races like these. We really enjoyed the experience and I've decided following the Indy races is something I could totally get in to. I have photos and video from the event but I haven't had a chance to go through them yet. Maybe tomorrow after I submit my Circus Mexicus video entry but for now here's a cute photo of us at the races.

Today we spent the day trying to recoup from the fun in the sun but also spent some time working on our Circus Mexicus videos. Michael is also entering the contest for a chance to win the VIP passes. I think both of us have a pretty good shot at winning. In fact his will likely beat mine. Deadline for entry is Tuesday at noon Rocky Point time but I know we'll be done in time. I think mine's about as good as it's gonna get.

And so I am pooped from a great weekend and have a short 4 day week to look forward to because come Friday I am outta here. We'll be in Mexico for four days with our favorite band and friends! Circus Mexicus!!

The Fab Four Friday Night

Friday, three generations of The Beatles fans in my family enjoyed The Ultimate Tribute at House of Blues in Dallas.

We were amazed from the moment they stepped on stage just how much they looked and sounded like The Beatles. Especially Paul!

I'm entering another Circus Mexicus contest!

This time for VIP.

So I'm in at Circus Mexicus soundcheck that's pretty VIP but only thing I need is to roll in with my VIP pass--THAT I have to earn by producing the most awesome Circus Mexicus video ever.

I started working on it last night. I shared a very rough cut with my advisors and confidants a few hours ago. I can't wait to get their input but so far I am liking it and think I really have a shot at winning. Of course, I don't want to be too overconfident. But it's gonna rock whether I win or not. And it's a ton of fun reliving last year's Circus Mexicus.

One week from tomorrow!!

Liberty Fest 2010 in Farmers Branch, TX

The City of Farmers Branch pulled off an incredible inaugural Liberty Fest this weekend. We arrived late afternoon to see theVietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. A 3/5 scale recreation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.

We then wandered around the parks and checked out different displays before claiming our spots on the lawn the Gin Blossoms and REO Speedwagon concert later. My brother and his daughter Kiki met up with us and we did our best to hold a square of grass for our friends Daniel and Tanya and Tanya's parents.

Gin Blossoms kicked of the show right at 7 and sounded great. I've always loved the band but this was my first time to see them live. It's kinda cool that Scotty Johnson was a Peacemaker for awhile before I started following RCPM.

We all sang and danced along (see Kiki could hardly stand still).

They performed all their top hits and a few new songs. They informed us a new album should be out later this year or early next year.
Of course, the main event of the night was REO Speedwagon and we discovered the Mayor of Farmers Branch is a huge REO fan.

They too did all their hits and a few others I didn't really know but enjoyed just the same. They only disappointment was their failure to play "In My Dreams".

After the incredible REO show there were fireworks!

Great way to kick of a Memorial Day Weekend & summer.

ME!

I won the RCPM Facebook contest and will be attending soundcheck at Circus Mexicus this year. Sweet!

All I had to do was change my profile pic to that Circus Mexicus bull and post a comment on their wall. They drew names & I won! I still can't believe I actually won!

Circus Mexicus is only 16 days away!!
